Adventure A-Plenty: What to Do Before or After a Hub City Spartanburgers Game

In 2025, Minor League Baseball returned to Spartanburg as The Hub City Spartanburgers began play at Fifth Third Park. The newly-built ballpark (christened by a cross-town match-up between Wofford College and USC Upstate) is expected to be a catalyst for Downtown Spartanburg’s western edge, bringing the excitement and year-round programming you’d expect from Minor League Baseball.

If you plan to head to Fifth Third Park for a Spartanburgers game, or any other event held at Downtown Spartanburg’s newest attraction, why not extend the fun?

There are a trove of walkable options to enjoy before or after a game at fifth Third Park. From craft brews to eclectic dining, local art, and live music, here’s your guide to exploring Spartanburg along with seeing the Spartanburgers.

Raise a Glass & Savor Some Flavor

El Paso Tacos & Tequila – the restaurant that’s physically closest to Fifth Third Park is El Paso Tacos & Tequila, which sits right along Daniel Morgan heading to the ballpark’s right-field entrance. First opened in 2022, this Mexican spot has become popular thanks to its array of food and especially its drink menu and bar, guaranteed to quench your thirst prior to or after a Spartanburgers game.

Main Street Pub – Step into Main Street Pub, where the energy is as bold as their signature cocktails. The longtime downtown pub showcases live music, local DJs, and even karaoke sessions that spill out onto the bustling sidewalks. With a menu boasting loaded nachos, ribeye steak tacos, and pulled pork tacos, it’s the perfect place to fuel up on delicious pub fare while soaking in the downtown vibes.

Rockers Brewing Co – Rockers Brewing Co. is a trailblazer among local craft beer aficionados. Since 1997, the Spartanburg brewpub has put out its hand-crafted beers (including the ever-popular Son of a Peach) while offering a laid-back, dog-and-kid-friendly atmosphere. Rockers is a great option for a bite and a drink for a Spartanburgers’ first pitch.

Cribb’s Kitchen  – Burger-lovers and foodies alike will find a haven at Cribb’s Kitchen. This hotspot is famous for its annual Burger Cook-Off, where the winning creations earn a spot on the menu. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic burger and beer or craving chef-driven dishes like pork belly confit and crispy oysters with grits, Cribb’s Kitchen serves up a vibrant mix of flavors with a touch of South Carolina charm.

Konnichiwa – Craving something a bit more exotic with your baseball? Konnichiwa is a great sport for sushi, and the restaurant offers an impressive array of customizable Bento and Hibachi bowls.

Sweet Treats & Creative Brews

SmallCakes – No game day is complete without a sweet treat, and SmallCakes delivers just that. Known for its iconic pink cupcake boxes and an array of both classic and inventive flavors, this bakery and creamery is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Little River & the Hub City Bookshop  – For a coffee break with a twist, wander over to Little River Coffee Bar with its plethora of caffeinated creations and fresh-baked pastries and showcase of local art. Next door is the Hub City Bookshop, a local gem and one of Southern Living’s ‘Best Bookshops in the South.’

 Outdoor Escapes & Community Vibes

Sunset dining in Morgan Square

Morgan Square – When you’re looking to extend your outdoor dining experience, head to Morgan Square, recently pedestrianized to be friendly to foot-traffic and outdoor dining, particularly among restaurants set up right on the Square.

Choose from a diverse lineup including:

FR8yard – the state’s first fully-outdoor biergarten, FR8yard offers live music nearly every night, ice-cold drinks, and sizzling grilled meats. With its spacious setting and community spirit, it’s an ideal spot to wind down after the game while enjoying the company of friends, family (all ages welcome) and even your furry companions!
