Punxsutawney Phil (of Groundhog Day fame) saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter. But if you’re like us, you’re looking (eagerly) ahead toward spring.
With warmer temperatures comes more reasons to get out-and-about, whether it’s exploring outdoor recreation opportunities or enjoying some outdoor dining. It also means a revitalized community events calendar, featuring celebrations of all kinds for people of all tastes across Spartanburg County.

March 13 – Landrum Quilt Show
Landrum is well-known for its quilt history, and on March 13, the Landrum Quilters will host a special event showcasing it at The Cunningham Market Pavilion. The event will feature 150+ quilts, a host of vendors, and a silent auction. Tickets are $6.
March 15 – Shenanigans on the Square
Downtown Spartanburg’s annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration, presented by Delaney’s Irish Pub, is set for Saturday, March 15. The 2025 edition of Shenanigans on the Square will feature a day full of live music, dedicated kid zone, and all the traditionally-Irish flavors you can want courtesy of Delaney’s, a longtime downtown favorite.
March 15 – Landrum St. Patrick’s Day Street Party
Landrum’s St. Patrick’s Day party will feature a parade along Trade Street, food trucks, kids’ attractions, Leprechaun photo booth, live music, and more.
March 21-23 – Ballet Spartanburg presents “The Mighty Casey”
Ahead of first pitch for The Hub City Spartanburgers (more on that to come), Ballet Spartanburg presents The Mighty Casey, a show to help get fans excited about Minor League Baseball’s return to the Hub City. The show is based on two poems, Casey at the Bat and Casey-Twenty Years Later, making this baseball ballet a first for Spartanburg.
March 29 – Spring into Spartanburg Festival
This festival is sponsored by Cara Bella Boutique, a shop in Downtown Spartanburg, and will feature artisans and craft-makers, kids’ activities, live music, and food trucks. The free event is dog-friendly, and will be held on Dunbar and Magnolia streets.
April 4-5: Hub City Hog Fest
Spartanburg’s most-popular barbecue bash returns April 4 and 5, benefiting Mobile Meals of Spartanburg. Sample pulled pork, wings, sides, and more from competing pitmasters looking to earn top prize during this certified SC Barbecue competition. Along with all the BBQ you can want, there will be live music and local vendors set up across downtown.
April 9-11: Artisan MADE
This one-of-a-kind shopping experience will feature three days of featured artists bringing their creations right to you at the Reinvintage Warehouse, a former textile warehouse home to 20,000 square feet of vintage and artisan shopping space.
During the three days of Artisan MADE, you can expect creative sessions, networking dinners, a craft party, and a Q&A session with local, participating artisans.
April 26: The Planets
This musical journey, created in partnership by The Spartanburg Philharmonic and Spartanburg County Public Libraries, will feature a world-premiere by local composer-in-residence Peter B. Kay, specifically created with the new Downtown Spartanburg Planetarium in mind. This musical journey will speed through the cosmos with Gustav Holst’s masterpiece, “The Planets.”
May 2: The Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Criterium
Spartanburg’s favorite cycling race and tailgate party returns on May 2, part of a major weekend of events in Downtown Spartanburg specifically.
The annual CRIT is a closed-circuit, multi-lap bike race twisting and turning through the streets of Downtown. The CRIT is the ultimate night of speed, complete with amateur, professional, and even special childrens’ cycling races throughout the day and night.
May 3: Cribbs Burger Cook-Off
The very next day will be a beef bonanza as the Cribbs Burger Cook-Off returns to downtown, featuring teams cooking and serving up samples of creative burgers, all in the hopes of becoming a permanent menu item at Cribbs Kitchen. And maybe best of all, the entire event benefits Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas.
May 3: Mezcal’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration
If burgers aren’t enough, Mezcal’s Cinco de Mayo celebration will take over Morgan Square the same day, complete with live music, multi-cultural celebrations, and food from across the globe.
Inman Market on Mill – March, April, May
The small business-focused market will be a recurring event on Mill Street in Inman throughout the spring. Local vendors will be set up and children’s activities will be open. For up-to-date information about this event follow @MarketOnMill on Instagram.
Music on Main – Thursdays, April-July
Downtown Spartanburg’s longtime music series returns to Morgan Square starting in April. Music on Main happens every Thursday from 5:30-8:30 PM through July.
Spartanburg ArtWalk – Third Thursdays
Participating museums and galleries are open from 5 – 8pm. Light refreshments are usually served.
