A Visit to Cleveland Park

One of the area’s most charming and most popular parks, the picturesque Cleveland Park has something for everyone looking to spend a few hours enjoying the outdoors in Spartanburg.

Cleveland Park sits in the heart of Spartanburg, only a few minutes from downtown. The park has been renovated multiple times over the years, with its event center and clubhouse becoming a landmark of sorts in Spartanburg County.

Set Up a Picnic

Cleveland Park is a fantastic spot for a picnic. There are two picnic shelters and several picnic tables available. And if you want to set up an outdoors meal yourself, there’s plenty of green space where you can set up a blanket and spread.

If you’re looking to barbecue, you’re also in luck, as Cleveland Park has communal grills accessible to visitors.

Work It Out

There are plenty of options to burn some calories at Cleveland Park, for kids and adults.

The park is home to playgrounds, designed with input from Cleveland Academy of Leadership students, specifically catering to what kids want. The playground is split into the Great Adventure zone for older kids (ages 5-12) and the Tot Lot, geared for younger kids (ages 2-5).

To keep everyone safe, the playground is built on a rubber, spongy surface that makes tumbles and trips easier to take.

And for mom and dad, there’s horseshoe pit ready for your game, and outdoor fitness equipment to get your workout in with a view.

Get Your Steps In

With more than 1.5 miles in trails, Cleveland Park visitors can stay active and enjoy great views, including glimpses at ducks, geese, and fish on the park’s lake area. The paved, walking trails loop around the space, where you’ll be protected by the shade of tall hardwood trees.

Snap a Selfie

Grab an Instagram-worthy photo in front of Cleveland Park’s lake as you trek around the park’s walking paths.

One of the park’s newest amenities is a public art project, featuring the art of local artists Frankie Zombie and Adrian Meadows. The space between Cleveland Park and a neighboring field has been transformed with vibrant colors and geometric patterns (not dissimilar from the Creative Crosswalks in Downtown Spartanburg). The sidewalk-art gives Cleveland Park another unique attraction for all visitors.
